Default Wiltshire/Oxfordshire Fly Fishing

Hi,
I hope i'm posting in the right place, apologies if not. My step dad has asked me to investigate what he described as a full rod for him. He currently fishes for trout on a lake in Lechlade but would like to find a full rod for a river nearby. I was wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction for this please? Google was throwing up some confusing things and i will be honest the only fishing i have done was with my brother many years ago. He is based about 7 miles out of swindon (towards oxfordshire) and is wanting something in a 25 mile radius. If anyone has any info on where i could start or knows where he could purchase a full rod i would be extremely grateful. His preference is fishing for trout.
Many thanks, Sarah.

if he is in the faringdon area although a bit more than 25 miles he could join salisbury and district angling course fishing permit not game as long waiting list, there is some good trouty waters, and grayling in season. i go about 10 times through the season. there is a bit of water at amesbury tickets in tackle shop. happy fishing

Hi Sarah & Sarahs step Dad.

Barton court Hungerford area do season tickets.
Hungerford Town also.
Cotswold fly fishers.
Ardington sort of rivery, but a still water.

All the above, possibly with the exception of CFF. Cost an arm & a leg, one ear & 17 teeth. (Quite a lot then).

I wonder if I know your step dad, I used to live in Faringdon. Went to Tollington School for 3 days in 85/86. Wasn't for me.

Sean

Its a little bit further than 25 miles but the Little River Avon would be good start. Speak to splashtestdummy, or JJO on the forums, both are very helpful and would give you some steers. There are closer places with day tickets but they can be a bit pricey. A bit more information on his budget and preferences (eg small stream or chalkstream) would be useful.

Hi, thank you for your responses, I believe he is looking for a stretch of river for regular use, I'm not overly sure on a budget to be honest i would expect around £300 but i could be being very naive. I will be seeing him over the weekend so will show him the posts and if it is ok come back if he has any more queries.
Thank you.

hello if you can find some fishing or club most have a waiting list like the cotswolds FFC . the budget of £300 then the motor costs should be enough but you would not need to spend that much realy. when you have more info on his ideals let us know, happy weekend visit.
