Default Weed problems

Hi all,
I'm new to this site and seeking some advise.
My local water is Blagdon and more specifically the south shore.
As reported by others, the weed is a big problem at the moment, even in what
look like good spots, the weed is often only a foot or so below the surface.
I must confess my old floating line does sink slightly at the end, which has prompted me to buy a new aircel line. This has a loop already formed in the end, to which I'm told I can attach line directly. I hope this will help a lot.
However any other advise on what I could try would be great.

I'm sure weed holds fish and would enjoy the challenge of fishing these difficult spots. Just feel I need the right tools!

Many thanks

You can buy certain flies with weed guards, American companies more often have a better selection

If the fish aren't wanting dry flies, I might be inclined to fish a bouyant fly on the point (like a suspender hopper, or a booby, or some such) and nymph on a dropper "washing line" style, on a copolymer leader to help keep them up. You'll have to beef up the breaking strain though - last thing you want is a dropper getting tangled in the weed when a fish takes.

try floating fry patterns aswell, theres lurkers in the weed looking for trapped prey

Thanks for all your replies. I have been trying the washing line, but as I said my old line sinks a little. Hopefully my new Groovy air cel line should do the trick !
Will also look at the weed guard flies.

Once again. Thanks
