Ellerdine for me out of those two. Actually I don't fish small stillwaters very often these days, but when I did more, and once I discovered Ellerdine, that became 1st choice - and thats with me living about 5 mins from Loynton and 30 mins from Ellerdine. I should say, that was before Seighford opened, which is about 10 mins from me. On the odd occasion when I do fancy a small local stillwater now its a toss up between Seighford and Ellerdine. Not saying Loynton is bad, it just depends what you like. Loynton is muddy deep water, Ellerdine a bit more attractive, more to go at, and more free rising fish - good sized fish too (I have had double figure 'bows and browns 5lb+) and good quality. Nice atmosphere too - but be warned, the manager can be a bit of joker! If he tells you sorry, its a club day, you'll have to go back home, just laugh and tell him to put kettle on

An apps blodworm has worked well for me there. All just my opinion obviously.
The other alternative 10 mins or so further on from Loynton near Stafford is Seighford Lakes as mentioned above - see the reports on here by Phil Dixon (Orange Blob). Or there's Delbury Hall in south shropshire which people rate highly, although I've never fished it myself.
