Default Big fish hooked and lost

Well guys,i was on the river tonight, everything looked perfect, nice and mild evening with plenty of bwo s and sedge about ,then it starting to pour for the heavens and turn cold ,i just took shelter and seen a few fish started to move above the pool i took shelter in when the rain eased.I covered a fish and it sucked down my adams ,well it took off like a scalded cat up and down the river, was trying to hold the fish in the middle of the river but it tore by me and took refuge in the reeds and was buried deep,i basically had no control of it,after a bit of thrashing about i was left with a fine specimen of a reed,.i practice catch and release but this release was too premature for my liking, this river is small and a fish of half a pound is the norm as in the fish in my avatar, but this was the best fish i ve ever hooked on a river and the little i seen of him i would put him in the 3 to 4lb bracket, now my question is how long does it generally take for that fish to feed again, will he keep the same lie, would he be tempted to the same fly again, the river is basically not fished as wading is hard,is weedy and the banks are high from arterial drainage, but i love it,any help appreciated,id love to get a crack at this lad again.

Great to hear Grasshopper ,on small rivers there are very few prime spots which can support a fish of that size , last season I caught one particular individual four times using a number of different tactics ,which is surely the biggest buzz of CR , funnily I went back to he same spot a month ago and lost a nice fish at the net , those prime locations always have a nice one holed up , rest him for a month and keep his locaton to your self try him with a dirty big zonker or some such .PJ

I stuck a pic up in the brown trout thread yesterday of a wild 4.75lb fish I hooked and lost twice before landing it on my third attempt. This was over about a week. I checked the spot the following night and it was rising again. It took a dry each time and the same pattern 2 of those times.
Go get him

Unlucky colin , but thats what makes the pursuit of brown trout so exciting, id imagine the trout will start feeding again actively in the next 24 hours, he certainly will remember the "adams" the next time, lol
