Carron Jetstream(s) for either single hander or 2 hand rods.

Ihad a cast with the Rio iLine recently and Imust say it flew through the rings like a rocket, unfortunately they are not cheap at around the £70 mark, and some may be put off by the very bright colours as well. But it was a beautifully supple and ultra slick line and Iwouldnt have minded the Sage XP that it was being demo'd on as well. How much of it was down to the rod I dont know as Ihad never cast an XP before either.
Steve.

I've cast nearly every line under the sun.

In terms of best all round performance, the Rio Gold takes some beating.

There are other more role specific lines out there, but for an average days fishing, putting out dries, nymphs and the odd cone head, the Gold takes some beating.

It also performs a variety of casts well.

iline is superb, I just couldnt live with the colour on small streams...

Steve, knowing the Sage XP it would LOVE a line like the RIO iLine. Effectively what you've got is a longish Skagit or a short Scandi head. Couldn't find a diagram of the lines, but given the over all length was (average) about 28 feet and all the grains packed into that short package it would load the XP like it had a double round of power behind a cannon ball.

Rio iLine Project 1 Fly Line

A brand new concept in fly line design, built by request and with help from some of the Country’s leading anglers and Instructors alike. The iLine head is relatively short, so loading the rod quickly/at short range is easier. Thinner, extra slick running line ensures that the compact head flies fast and long range casts are possible. The taper design compromises superbly between both anchored (roll, spey) and overhead casts: generating more load and increased line speed in roll casts yet remaining stable in flight. Through it’s size range, the iLine P1 has merit for river trout, sea-trout, small Stillwater and Cold saltwater anglers alike: in fact anyone who wants to manoeuvre line quickly and efficiently, and without the need for a large back-casting space. The line is, of course manufactured with RIO’s latest high tech coatings: XS Technology for a super slick, dirt repelling coating, AgentX for an ultra smooth surface and high floating running line and Super Floatation Technology that creates a high fl oating tip. The line also features RIO’s DualTone colour concept to easily show the angler the perfect loading point for each line size. A welded loop on both ends makes for easy rigging and fast leader changes.

I like the scientific anglers mastery xps DT fly lines. Also a nice silk line with a cane rod.

The SA Sharkskin cast like a dream, but the rough finish and whistling sounds drive me nuts.
Going to try out the SA Mastery Textured GPX next week, I am hearing nice comments about this one, save for the price.
