Default Another big fish lost!!!!!!!!

Hi all,
as mentioned in the title there was another big fish lost again not by me but by my dad, we were fishing lilithgow again this week and last week my dad hooked a fish and had it on for about 10 secs when it jumped and the hook fell off but when it jumped we saw it and it was easily 10lb plus. and onto today we went back to linlithgow and we both had a few good 3lb plus rainbows but the rain put them off..then it happened my dads line went tight and the reel started screaming.......I went to go and assist my dad as it was obvious it was a good fish... the fight contined for another 2-3minutes untill it jumped out the water and we saw it by far the biggest rainbow we both had seen in real life not just on the tv/internet it was about 16-17lb!!!!!!! it then continued to make darting runs to the middle and back again... the fight then continued for another 2-3 minutes by this time a small crowd had gathered of walkers and a few of the boats were watching.........The fish was tiring as it was making shorter runs and was coming in on its side and was about 1 metre from me with the net when it suddenly decided to shake its head and the damsel in its huge jaws fell out and it heart brakingly
floated away and swam off into the depths..... The one that got away That is now two fish of a life time fell off for my dad now and even though we both ended up with 4 or 5 fish each we were both depressed and sad about the fish that escaped earlier
Regards,
Tom

Unlucky - I was out with my da today and i lost two fish one which was at leas 4/5lb then another at least 8 lb -Both on a red octopus, the 8lber nearly took me to the backing unil the line that i had retreived at my feet got caught round my leg Either i fall out of the boat, i try n sort it but risk losing it or just bully the fish in to the net - went for the second opion and ping, whole line snappened

Hey, you aint a proper fisherman till you have a tale about the one that got away!
Thats what happens if you fish often enough!
Be pleased that your dad actually had the big un on long enough to get the best of it!
Will always, always, be another chance on Lithgae Loch!
Are many rainbows of this size to be had there till end of season!
regards
bert

Hi,
i agree as we fish there every second week and alway see a few doubles and by dad has had one as 7lb and i have had one at 6lb ish
That said this isnt the reason we go to linlithgow the reason we go as the fish are the best fighting fish you will find and average 3lb!!!!!! with alot of big fish!!!!

"Thats fishing" like its been said! I know how you both must have felt, heart in your mouth!

I find John Wilson has the best approach "Would you believe it!" and then an (annoying) giggle.

Dont worry about it.....I have lost fish of a lifetime in a few species and I have landed fish of a lifetime too. Thats just fishings highs and low's..You cant win them all...

Dont dwell on the lost fish, you still had a good session and the lost biggun will just give you something to plan your revenge on.

A mate of mine lost a big brownie at Rutland approx 2 years ago, he rekoned it was at least 15lb and he STILL goes on and on about it and how he deserved it and its not fair he lost it...
