Default Furled Leaders Help Please !

Trying my hand at Furled Leaders ! I' ve heard a jig is the best option but seen a clip on you tube and it does look simple . Anyway all goes well until I get about two foot in , the the tail ends start to get tangled making it a nightmare to run leader material through my fingers ! Any ideas welcome

Hi RR! The monofilament furled leader on youtube is simple, but it's essential to keep each tail end separated from each other while doing the furling so as to prevent the tangles. A good way of doing this is to have each tail threaded through a mug handle, each mug being a few feet apart. You shouldn't have any problems if you do that.

I think the poster of that video is "Capt Sodey", or a similar name. If you click his website link on his Youtube page you will find plenty of info on these leaders. Also plenty of other useful info there too!

Alan

mug handles is a good idea!

I was following the same youtube vid and after a couple of failed goes got the missus to hold the two ends - one in each hand. Every so often she had to untwist each of the tail ends to keep it going right. The twist in the tails tends to unwind the bit you're furling.

Put the tails through the mug handles and stop twisting every couple of feet, or so, and untwist the tails. With a little patience it gets quite easy.
