Default Water's not just for fish !

Yesterday I found myself about 20-30 mins from my car and a bottle of water.... there I was with my chest waders and all I could carry in them - flies etc. everything but water, I was melting and close to serious dehydration in the heat of yesterday! I beat a retreat and headed for my car and my water before I started to hallucinate and imagine I had caught a huge salmon.....

So, my issue is, my question is, is there something I can buy that allows me to carry a bottle of water but does not interfere with the need for traveling light on the river?

A camelback might do the trick.
It's a water skin used by cyclist especially mountain bikers. Held in place on the back by 2 shoulder straps with a tube that comes over the shoulder to sit in front of the mouth. To drink just gently bite on the tube and suck. Think it would sit under a waistcoat o.k. without inhibiting casting.

Water bladders to give them their generic name are brilliant bits of kit. I use mine for archery, fishing, walking and everything else I do. I use mine in this piece of kit (badlands diablo). It holds the blader and about 40 litres of kit.

I use a camelback when i go fishing. They are lightweight (even full up), and don't get in the way at all and hold more water than you would think. Not sure of the price of them in the UK, as i am in NZ but well worth getting one in my opinion.

If your not sure about the water, take a survival straw with you

Survival Straw - Surviva-Pure - The Ultimate Water Purification System

or a Aquapure Traveller Water Filter,

Portable water filtration & purification bottle from Pure Hydration

can refill from the river, never be without again.
