Default Do Pink Lures Work for Rainbow

Hi all

The wife has just started fly fishing fishing on stillwaters and in her true style has asked why she cant have a pink lure to catch Rainbows. I think she wants me to tie here something that only she uses.

I've not had much experience on using pink in Rainbow Lures can they successful? Is there part of the season when pink is more effective?

I suppose that if they are in the mood then they will chase and take anything but could she use them as a go to lure and still catch a fish or two?

Thanks for any help.

Absolutely !

Pink marabou or zonker lures work very well, especially throughout winter......... i've found more success with the fucia pink ( stronger, darker pink ).

There are brighter colours I would use ahead of pink, especially on lures. The best pink fly is probably a pink Apps Bloodworm

Pink lures are one of my go to lures when things are slow. A Humongous with a pink tail and silver body can be devastating as can a pink booby.

I find pink fritz and pink marabou lures work well on new stockies anytime of year. An angling friend has also had a lot of success using a black marabou tail on a prink fritz body.

I've great sport with a fuscia pink booby. One day they were taking it off the top and at any point of the retrieve. Our res has a bed like a dry stone wall and I lost a booby on a rock twenty feet out. A minute later it popped into view and was attacked by trout several times before it washed onto the bank twenty yards downwind, where I retrieved it. Another benefit is they are very easy to spot in foliage and rocks.
