Default Ding dong the wicked wind is dead

After a month of relentless high winds here in Scotland (that even blew down trees at one point) the wind has dropped significantly and some lovely still weather is forecast, thank God. If trees are the bunkers of flyfishing then high wind is the deep rough. Time for the dryfly........

The wind was certainly tedious and disruptive. I'm looking forward to better weather.

Your right Clunk!!
Normally buzzer time on my club loch but with a constant big swell it has been tricky. Still catching on dibbled wets etc but no real floating line buzzer action. Sedges will be going mental soon though

Trout were catcheable though and I 'enjoyed' the challenge.....

....up to the point that I was blown off a fishing-platform to land with an almighty thump on the hard ground below (it should have been water, but as well as the wind we have drought here in Kent).

Yes,after a brilliant start to the season down here the last month has been dreadful. The buzzer and dry fishing should have been superb-I just havnt had a day off work that i can justify paying over£30 for a boat to be blown around the reservoir

all the best Nick

Not yet its not!
Just back from a couple of hours - looked ok when I left by the time I got there it was windy and raining! and its only 10 mins walk from my house.
Fine if you want to fish parallel to the bank - I didn't! I guess a better caster than me might have managed a bit better though.
Wonder how long it'll take to get the downed trees blocking the path moved!

It was windier than it was supposed to be today. I found a very sheltered section of a local stream and caught one or two. Roll on the evening rise.

finally has abated here as well. has made life very difficult on the wider west to east flowing rivers here. this coupled with an unusually high amout of caenis flies hatching has made for some seriously infurating fishing.
