Default Worst Spring Ever

I fish Scottish rivers mostly with the dry fly and I have had the worst spring since I started twenty odd years ago. March was cold, April far too dry and May must be breaking all records for wind. Add to this the devastation done over the winter by the black plague. Am I alone in suffering? It would help to hear how others are fairing.

Hi LDO
Take heart in the fact that most of us are in the same boat so to speak.I fished through the winter in ice, winds, and snow, and I've fished every month since despite the worst the weather can do. There are many of us and yes we are all probably mad. We're mad keen fishermen who despite everything manage to fish somewhere. It's not all been bad I've had some wonderful days which make fly fishing worth while. Sometimes for me it getting out in countryside, away from the problems of life, and getting rapped up in the matter of catching fish. Cheer up I'm sure better days are on their way.

BK

I am with you LDO, so far this season it's been CR4P.
And the nights start drawing in end of next month.

Same here LDO. I fish the Aberdeenshire Don and its been the worst opening 2 months I have experienced. I usually target the bigger trout on drys but this year its just not happening for all the reasons you already mentioned. Only conciliation is the amount of small fish in evidence this year. I hear the loch's are fishing well so I'm gonna start concentrating on them. Hard to leave the river alone though...
