Hi LDO
Take heart in the fact that most of us are in the same boat so to speak.I fished through the winter in ice, winds, and snow, and I've fished every month since despite the worst the weather can do. There are many of us and yes we are all probably mad. We're mad keen fishermen who despite everything manage to fish somewhere. It's not all been bad I've had some wonderful days which make fly fishing worth while. Sometimes for me it getting out in countryside, away from the problems of life, and getting rapped up in the matter of catching fish. Cheer up I'm sure better days are on their way.
