Default The Trout and the Fly

I remember reading this years ago. At the time I thought it invaluable and actually quite enjoyable to read... Or so I think in retrospect.... I borrowed it from the library, so I was thinking of buying a copy now. However, I am not sure that it is still in favour Does anyone else enjoy this book?

Or

If you have a copy and think it absolute piffle perhaps you might flog it to me for tuppence ha'penny

All the best

Great book & still largely as relevant as it was in 1981 what with the underwater photos of the angler's profile, rod flash, lines & leaders. A wealth of common-sense information.

I'm lucky enough to have both a first edition and a second edition. The book is very useful today for identifying feathers that are no longer useable so we can select reasonable substitutes. The tying techniques are excellent, in fact I learnt to tie flies with help from this book. However, the dressings tend to be attempts at exact imitation that I don't find as effective as caricature imitation.

Be wary that you don't end up like many of us with old books...

You run out of house room!
