Never had any problems with surgeon or 3 turn water knot with fluoro.(all brands)
Hook knot is 6 turn tucked blood knot, but well moistened, and pulled tight slowly, no thumb nails!, as this kinks line above knot.
catches me some big fish!
regards

Buy the best, top 2 brands are Grand Max and Rio Fluroflex, you can get Grand Max on here cheap, i use the usual knots and never have had a breakage with Grand Max, even fishing for salmon.

I had problems with Grand Max till I stopped using blood knots for droppers and switched to a three turn water knot. That solved the problems... but then I got some Airflow Sightfree coz it was on special offer and the shop had run out of grand max in 3x... Jury is out for me but I had my first break off in years quite recently. And I absolutely hate leaving hooks in fish.

Which breaking strain/X rating are you using.Maxima overtests and is very strong. It is possible if you are using the same BS fluoro as the maxima in a lower BS like 4lb or close purely as an example this could be the fault.Where are you fishing and type of trout fishing when these breaks happen.Best to go by diameter when substituting fluoro for mono tippets.
