Has anyone used the Sonik SK8 i was thinking of getting a 9 6 or 10ft #7 as a spare boat rod, at the minute i am using a sage xp 9 6 #7, what sort of action is the Sonik SK8, i know from what i read about it, it is a very light rod, any views would be welcome

Hey bro,

I recently got myself a SK8 9ft 6 #7 and a like it...a lot. It is very light and has a pretty fast action to it - which isn't everyone's cup of tea but i dig it!! I purchased a new rio grand line the day before yesterday and can't wait to see how that runs with the rod - i will hopefully get out and give it a go early this week. Will let you know how the two go together....

Got out a couple of times this week to give the rio grand a nudge. Coupled with the fast action of the SK8, i love it. I found it really slick, easy to load up and added noticeable distance to my cast straight away. There seems to be very little memory and it floats nice and high on the water, making for good control and a real easy lift off. Highly recommend both the rod and the line.

Hi - I've got a 9'6" 6wt SK8. This was the rod that got a great review in Trout Fisherman. It is a very light rod, with a very fast action. I have a Sage TCX, and the SK8 is even faster than that! Perhaps it's not to everyone's taste, but I like it. I have to say that if pushed though, I do still prefer my SK4. If you're looking for a spare boat rod, I'd recommend this first.
Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Keith
