Hello Mike

For trout a figure of eight should do the trick and very quick to do at the waterside. You could also opt for a mini stainless steel ring attached to the mono then davy knot your tippet or whatever knot you currently use for your flies. There is a good video by the knot professor of the F8 knot on here via the search facility.

Thanks for the feedback Guys,

I've just checked out the video of the 'correctly tied' figure of 8 loop and that looks like one i can tie in the dark! Interesting point about the correct way to join the two loops too! (not that i normally connect them wrong)

I now know how to tie the fig of 8 properly, like the way the main line keeps straight no slight bend to one side.Going to go and practice.

I am going to give this knot a go for droppers.I realise he was using a thinner dropper line for clarity in the video but could you do that for real, without losing strength?
I have to admit I've been connecting loop to loop incorrectly the past thirty-five years! I love it when I learn something simple, but effective!

I have been experimenting with the Fig of 8 knot for my dropper knot this year and can confirm that so far it has proven very reliable.

I sometimes use the fig 8 knot for both connecting two lengths of material or for a dropper and can vouch for it strength. It's a great knot in both cases
