Default Drennan sub surface green leader question

I have quite a few spools of Drennan sub surface green that I've never used. I know some use it, how does it fish? Would it be suitable for klink and dink and/or dry fly? Any advice appreciated.

Chris.

Chris.
One of the most popular sub surface monos. Ideal for nymph and lure fishing. This is an ideal tippet material when you wish to get a nice flow onto the water with a small dry fly. The neutral buoyancy of this line aids presentation.

hello as the lines states it is sub surface ideal wet type flys, it is not ideal for drys in my view for the river as would drag your imitation down, you can of course take shine off with appropriate material and grease to within 2 ft of imitation but then could use a top water mono which is meant for its purpose.

I use to use it a lot. Takes regular coatings of sinkant to get it to go subsurface.
It is not as subsurface a Maxima. Not a problem for dries, infact Ive caught quite a few fish when using it for dries. Good leader material when fishing wets/nymphs in algae effected water or water with plenty of weed. Still need sinkant.

Thanks folks. Seems pretty versatile; suprised it needs sinkant to make it sink. I kinda thought sub surface might mean...oh well I know what to do

You know, I was asking exactly the same question today, I like the feel of the Drennan - thanks for this thread.

Does fluorocarbon sink faster?

It depends on the diameter and the breaking strain. The higher the BS the better it sinks. Though I've never compaired the two I would guess fluoro would sink faster than the same BS mono.

With anything less than 8lb fluoro I put sinkant on it to help it go down.

When you say you have quite a few spools that you have never used, how long have you had them-not sure of the bio-degradable properties or this stuff

all the best Nick
