Default Live Web Cams on rivers - do they.........

.....invite poaching or are they really useful fishing tools?

I would have thought that webcams would discourage poachers if they knew they were there. However, webcams only cover a limited area so poachers would more likely target blind areas on rivers.If poachers checked webcams for no anglers there is no guarantee that anglers were not somewhere by. I can't see why webcams make a difference unless poachers are caught on camera.

This is where the real value of these cameras lies.
Personally i don't think they encourage poaching

the club i am in has been hit a few times this season.
we have put them off the bank 3 times already.
found otter board and a couple of rods stashed.
last time we nearly had them, left in a hurry leaving a torch and bag of bread .a few yards of line with a big hook on the end.
there are carp in the water as well as the trout so not sure what they were after.

They may be after ducks. Believe it or not, I've witnessed some Eastern Europeans throwing bread to ducks to attract them and then swinging in a breadflake buried in a large hook on a short length of line.

i think they are very good as it saves me a 30 min drive to check water levels
