Post How safe is camouflage clothing.

Over the years, more & more camouflage clothing has been creeping into our sport. The patterns on the clothing is getting more realistic, making it harder to pick out. I think there could a danger lurking here, if you were to fall in the water, more so on the rivers. The chances are it could make you harder to find. How many guys go solo wild fishing! I never gave it a second thought, until it happend to me several years back. I was wearing the good old British leaf pattern. How many of you guys & lasses wear camo gear?

Hi Colinmac, I wear camo gear and don't have any worries, my wife hopes I will get lost one day and no one will be able to find me. That is two opinions on it.
Billy.

Look at the unfortunate fishermen who fall into the water from boats wearing normal fishing gear w/o camo and are never found, ofc camo wouldn t make it any easeir to find this is why floatation suits are day-glo in color to increase ppls chances, its a dangerous hobby we got no matter how relaxing it is fall into water laden down with gear or slip into a hole while wading ,overboard on boats and you run the risk, now camo gear out on hunting ground with shooters has proven fatal and accidents happen this is why the yanks are also into bright arm bands etc when out on shoot, and those Ghillie suits if anyone crept up on me with 1 out night fishing i would probably ahve a heart attack :P

I gave up the camo and guns when I quit the hunt. No reason to wear camo when trout fishing as the trout bump my feet when they want me to shuffle. Then again if someone is making camo fishing shirts... I would rather be seen than not

IMO camo clothing is becoming a fashion statement. It's totally unnecessary for fishing. Olive or brown type clothes have been the norm for years. As for falling in don't do it or if you think you might wear an automatic inflatable life jacket.

I now wear camo all the time for fishing , I am convinced it makes a difference if you are fishing the margins, the difficult bit is casting without moving the rod ! maybe I should colour the rod matt blue grey
I was fishing the dam wall last night , sitting well back on the rocks and cast to 3 bass that never suspected I was there , by margins I mean less than a rod length out .
I now habitually fish well back from the water , it is surprising how many fish come right in close .
BTW the hunters out here have to wear orange caps .

Don't think wearing camo makes a difference fishing,me i just wear the usual green or brown stuff.Like others have stated i just think its a fashion statement or something that's crossed over from the carp boys.Sitting in a bivy yrds back from the bank, don't get it me
