Default Newb Checking in!

Hi guys, having not fished for a few years, after getting bored of carrying all my carp gear around, I was curious about fly fishing. I sent the last month or so, looking through these forums, and reading all the hepful info on this site, preparing myself for my first outing.
I tried my fishing at Tenterden Trout Waters, Kent. I choose this venue as they did rod hire, which as a new peep to the sport was good. I spent 4 hrs there in total, and caught a 3 1/2lb Rainbow. It really felt good, playing it on the light gear, and after that I think I am hooked.
Yesterday I went to Tackle & Gun In Tenterden and bought all the stuff I will need 'hopefully' to carry on fly fishing. The guys here were brill, spending a couple of hours with me helping me choose rod/reels/etc.
I have already booked some more time off work this week, to go Thurs/Fri, so fingers crossed.
So a big thank you to you guys on here, reading your posts has been a wealth of knowledge. Thank you to Barry at Tenterden Trout Waters, for you helpful tips and advice, and lastly thank you to Tackle & Gun in Tenterden, for your great customer service.
ps...

Any helpful info, that a newbie may need would be greatfully received, and any suggestions for good placed to fish in and around Kent would be great.

Thanks Again!

Welcome to the forum and the fabulous world of fly fishing.
As a newcomer to this you'll have good days and frustrating days. Don't be afraid to ask, it's a permanent learning experience. Above all enjoy.

Sorry, can't help regarding fishing in Kent.

welcome to the forum
try your local library, before they close them all down-often have a few good books to get you started. When you find a good water to fish ask the owner or other regulars how to fish the waters-their knowledge will be relevant to that water
Learn to cast-you can practice on grass. Get a lesson or if money is an issue plenty of instruction on youtube

hope this helps Nick

Welcome to the forum,Here are some Fishery's in Kent and Sussex

Been to Tenterden myself a few times myself as I'm from Kent,do they still have that basket thing still in place?.As for fishery's pembury's springhill is a good smallwater, but the real jewel in Kent's crown is Bewl Water.Further afield in sussex you have Lakedown and powdermill

Thanks for the warm welcome. I went out and bought several books already, even one on fly making, which seems another hobby in itself lol.
Yes they still have the baskets around the bank, which seems a very good idea. It's a beautiful fishery there, rolling countryside, with the sound of the steam train in the back ground, feels you are in a scene from darling buds of may.

I'll make sure to check out the other fisheries, but ATM think I need to stay small till I build up my confidence and knowledge.
I live in folkestone, but run some shops in ashford, so for location, I know I have a few smaller waters near me, kind of handy for a few hours after work, or when I just need to 'pop out'
