Steve,

I think there might be some in the big lake/reservoir at Guadalest (black bass and rainbow trout). You need a licence.

I've never fished out there but go fairly often as i have family nearby - please let me know how you get on.

Haven't looked out for any myself yet, but will be there in August and would be keen to know if you find anything or indeed how you got on!

cheers

Nice one guys,. I have found a reservoir that has black bass and carp, that'll do nicely!

Good luck getting a license!!!

I got mine last month in Jerez. Over two days, I had 3 trips to the police station to get my NIE number, two trips to the ministry of fisheries for the actual license, not to mention two trips to a bank to pay the admin fees.

Luckily I had a local in tow to help, otherwise I'd have given up

On the plus side, the licence does last three years, and will only involve visiting the ministry of fisheries and a bank

Mike

I share your pain on getting the licence …. I got my Andalucía licence a few years ago the same way, ie with my Spanish friend doing all the translation. Mine ran out this year and rather than waste my friends time (again) I tried the telelencia website - with a rudimentary knowledge of Spanish I managed to navigate the website and re-new online. The service is pretty straightforward for renewals. Enter your old licence number plus payment details and then email a scan of your old licence and bob’s your uncle.
Licence and insurance cover note arrived this week and I’m ready for September.

Freshwater Fishing in Spain - AngloINFO Madrid (Spain)

did you guys have to sit an exam in Spanish like this website suggests or is this just a Madrid region thing?

Those bass look the business!

cheers

Bazzer,

No exam for me. I was told to bring my UK license just in case, but nobody checked it?!?!

sjthomo,
thanks for the link, that looks useful!

I think you'd be OK just using your UK rod licence, but each region is different and those spanish looooove their paperwork!
It really is a pain and if we didn't get over there most years (my wife works in timeshare..... I know but she's nice really) - i would have let the process put me off and chanced it without a licence.
I fish the large ressies a hour out of Malaga - see the poppers thread on the destination fishing sub forum - and get loads of bass nothing big yet 2lbs maximum but great fun on the fly rod.
