Default Dry Fly knots

I know theres been lots of discussion about knots especially dropper knots lately, just thought I'd throw in the above loop knot for discussion.
Saw it in an article by Dave Southall 'The Size of it', who uses it for dries especially small ones, the intention being that it reduces micro drag.

Initially I was put off thinking that the loop makes the tippet material more obvious but recently decided to give it a go.
It might just be coincidence but on the last 2 trips that I've tried it the results were very positive, taking 15 fish to the dry
on the first trip and 14 on the second. I can only compare with my fishing buddy also on the dry who caught half as many.

I know there are many variables involved and comparisons are not easy to make but would be interested to hear if anyone else uses this knot
and what their experiences and thoughts are of it.

BTW first trip was on a still water and the other on a freestone river.

Tony

Looks like a standard non slip loop knot. Which is the same as the rapala knot without the extra tuck.
Very useful knots.
