About £1.20 is the priciest I've seen (orvis depth charge nymphs) but they may be for fast flowing rivers so wouldn't qualify.

lol....on a serious note, my most expensive fly was the first one i ever tied.
It cost me nearly 150 quid for the kit, and that was way back when you could have 1/2 pence peice as change. i think, or there abouts anyway

I remember in the late nineties, I was tying at the Danish Fly Fair in Kolding. I sat with Michael Frodin and he sold his flies then for between £50 and £70 each, mind you he wore white silk gloves to tie, preventing any 'body grease' transferring itself onto the feathers. Yes, they were fully dressed Salmon flies but beautifull works of art, he is a genius at the vice. An example of the minute detail, when using a Golden Pheasant tippet feather, to make the feather lie lower on the hook, he would cut out every alternate fibre from the feather to close it up.

you could just get the basics..an aavice, tool kit and specific materials per fly you want to tie.

or invest in somthing like a veniards starter kit.

ask about on here and one of the other traders that does materials might be able to help.

it is worth the investment if you have the time and patience to practice and practice some more.
