Cool Coombs Res, Derbyshire

I have recently been coarse fishing with my Dad at Coombs Res in Derbyshire. I slipped my fly rod into my rod bag, just to have a pot shot for an hour.

There was loads of fly fishermen here after Pike.

It is currently owned by United Utilities but isn't owned by any fishing club. Therefore the fishing is free.

Has anyone been & what results have you had.

Hello bidz81, today I heard a whisper that the dreaded P.A. has got, or is getting the fishing rights for Combs Res.
Has anyone else any information ???

Combs (one 'o') plenty of jacks a few better fish. You will need to wade to get a decent back cast. Shallow water in most places and sandy bottom that you may sink into!

Lots and lots of angling pressure for pike and the ones that I have had have come from range on non fly tactics, never had anything closer than 30 yards out.

Pike numbers going down as a lot are getting taken by a section of public and mistreated by kids.

Not heard about PAAS having gained control of the water.
