Hello everyone my name is Emily and I am ten years old and my Dad is letting me use his login.

I have just come back from my first fly fishing outing with my Dad (chitlins & Hodge) at Temple fishery. The weather was not great it was constantly windy whith srtong gusts. This made casting very hard for me since I have only practiced in the garden once. However I didn't give up.

After an hour I caught my first Rainbow Trout I felt dead excited and nervous at the same time because Dad left me all on my own to bring it in, but Dad netted it for me. I missed two more fish on my second and third bites but I caught my second fish on my fourth bite two hours later.

My first Rainbow weighed in at just shy of 2lb and my second Rainbow weighed in at just over 1 3/4lb. I caught them both on a black buzzer pattern that Dad tied.

I think the staff and other fly fishers at Temple were very friendly and gave me alot of tips and encouragement.

I think I am hooked now and me and my Dad are thinking of joining the Temple fishing club, The Steelheads.

Hi Emily, and CONGRATULATIONS! WOO-HOOO!

2lb for your first fish is a belter! And getting one on your first time fly fishing is really good going too. I was fly fishing for about a year before I caught anything. I can see your Dad is going to have some competition from you. Just try not to embarrass him too much by catching more than he does!

By the way, I was out fishing on Wednesday with an old friend, and we always net fish for each other, so there's no shame in having your Dad net yours for you. It makes good sense when there is more than one of you there to help each other out.

That is a top quality fish you have there Emily and it is great your dad has given you glasses to keep your eyes safe........there is so many people that don't wear glasses when fly fishing.

Bet you can't wait to get out again.

Well done Emily, wow a 2 pounder first go . Think it took me two seasons to catch one that big. Bet your dad is well proud of you . Keep it up.

Yes, I can see it now, thanks. Lovely looking fish. And the bandana is very cool. I prefer a hat with a brim - I look very silly but it stops me hooking my ears!
