Islay is a great holiday destination, great trout fishing, maybe a salmon if there is water. There is also deer stalking and plenty of wildlife on show. Tea rooms and craft shops for the wife, great beaches and plenty of dog friendly self catering

Oh and there is whisky, lots of whisky....

A few places to get you started:-

My parents used to take us here as kids

Ardtornish Estate and Gardens, Self catering holidays Scotland, Cottages and Flats

It's very quiet and secluded in the highlands on the west coast. As well as a choice of accomodation, theres free fishing on about 16 lochs for wild brownies and the river Aline runs through the estate which can also be fished for an extra fee for the salmon.

Thanks

Mat

Hi
Thanks for the quick responses and suggestions

"What kind of fishing are you looking for Baz?"

I'm open to any -maybe small loch, river??
As I said, my wife has found loads so far which sound perfect...

Was hoping to get onto the west coast, so Tafftastic's suggestion is sort of where we've been looking
Thanks all -will check out all the suggestions

Baz

Thumbs up Re: Help wi' me `oliday

I can highly recommend tafftastics choice of venue, as it is one the waters i fish on a regular basis. It's only 5 mins from my house. Top quality fishing in this area.

Attadale

Attadale Estate, Wester Ross

Everything from a short stroll to a thirteen mile hike, there and back unless you can blag a lift from the gamekeeper ; one stocked loch or umpteen wild ones; two rivers, one with salmon, the Carron, and the other with wild browns, the Ling at the end of the thirteen mile hike; pike in the lochs up there too. It even has its own railway station, gardens open to the public and a short drive from sky to do a bit of sightseeing.

Spend a night in one of the two bothies and fish the lochs instead of a sixteen or twenty six mile round trip. The Ben Dronaig one was the best of the two although the other one had a camp bed

Some pictures of my trip.

and a few videos.

Not often you get a place with everything although we camped.

Here's some I've been to within the last couple of years. All take dogs, and all have good access to fishing. Let me know if any take your fancy and I'll tell you a bit more about the fishing.
