I'm sure this question has come up before but I'm damned if I can find the responses so here we go again -

Can any of you boys or girls out there recommend a good guide book for fishing for wild brown trout in the Outer Hebrides?

It'll be for a trip next year. I'll be seeking local advice/guide closer the time but a bit of information up front for planning purposes never hurts.

Bruce Sandisons books on Scottish fishing are worth a look - The Rivers and Lochs of Scotland for example. I personally prefer his older booksfewer waters but a good read. There are a few others too:

McLeod - Fishing in Lewis. A good guide to the lochs in my view

Wilkinson - Fishing the Scottish Islands. Not terribly instructive but an enjoyable read just the same

If you can find it Moray MacLaren and WB Currie - The fishing waters of Scotland. Its a truly great book.

Another vote for Maclaren/Currie, is a good read,without the monotony of the grid reference style!
