Im thinking about a boating holiday on one of the lochs. On some of them ie loch locky i think and ness you can hire a 6 berth boat a bit like caravaning i suppose but on water.
can anyone recomend a good loch for trout fishing? I think ness is too big myself and fished it once before and blanked.
Any help appreciated

All the lochs on the Caledonian canal are worth a try. My personal fav' is Loch Oich. Not to big and full of decent trout and some HUGE pike.
Ness can be intimidating but fish the bays. Lochy has some good trout and some escapee rainbows.

There are thousands of lochs so an area you're keen on visiting might help narrow it down

Loch lochy and Arkaig are class - on Lochy the average size was about 1 1/2 lb, some really nice hatches in may/june, clan chiefs, zulu, frazzle dabbler, soldiers, kates, pennels, woodcock and green, butchers all work - loch arkaig is similar to lochy except it costs a lot of money to fish, there is also a baliff that patrols the loch, which is good to keep dafties away, we usually fish the top end, it is very deep and to fly fish you'll need fast sinking lines, when theres a hatch the water erupts and it's amazing...

Try and get a copy of Bruce Sandisons Trout Lochs Of Scotland, this is the trout anglers bible for the Scottish lochs.
