Default Blue lining...Anyone done it?

Any of you ever done some serious blue lining?
It when you get hold of a topographical map of an particular area, check the un fished rivers, by identifying the "blue lines". You then find out who the landowner is, through any means possible (usually through the deeds office or local municipal authority. Make contact with him, and ask if you can go fish his water.
It's very satisfying when you manage to get onto some decent water that no one else knows about, only to find, it has a healthy population of previously unfished trout.

Have tried it for carp (well blue blobbing i suppose) but very unproductive in the over populated South of England unfortunately. Found one decent estate lake which they allowed me to fish which had a lovely big head of wildies though.

Yes! Absolutely love it. You never quite know what you're going to find.

My best ever wild brown trout (over 4lb) came from doing this. And the water really didn't look promising either. I 've also been requested to 'get rid of the horrible pike that eats the ducklings' - didn't manage, sadly.

For level 10 difficulty, try getting shooting permission too...

Yes.!! And i love it..!!

I mostly do it when i go on my annual fix up to the lake district. I tend to spend hours on google maps, looking for tarns and little rivers on the off beaten track. I just wish there were more places to go or find down south..

Aye, there are plenty of wee burns round here, some prolific with trout, sea trout and the odd salmon and a few that are a challenge to tempt a 4oz'er out of.

the oppositve happened to me yesterday. A friend asked if I could try and catch some huge koi carp out of a relatives lake. Its overpopulated with carp and they want to move some to a different pond. Will give it a try this weekend. Can't wait!
