Last week I joined up with the Northern Sport Flyfishers trip to the Derwent organised by Robert Brown. I had never met any of the participants before but was made to feel very welcome and would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of having a go at fishing competitons. I would just like to post a vote of thanks in particular to Gary Hyde, who runs West Yorkshire Fly Fishing Services, who generously gave of his time - and flies! - today to introduce me to fishing the Nidd and show me the finer points of the duo. He is a very knowledgeable guide and good company to boot. Thanks Gary!
