HI
As I am new to fly fishing what if any is the difference in trout and salt water rods, at present i have a 9'6" 8WF rod will this also be man enough to have ago at pollock, mackeral etc ?

Also is there any difference with the lines etc

I normally fish with the beach caster or for a bit of fun i may use a lighter rod like my carp gear or spinning rod and thats always fun

Any advise welcomed and appreciated as i just dont know enough about fly gear at present

I dont swff but the lines I have seen for it have shorter more aggressive front tapers for turning over larger flies.

The rod are also a bit stiffer

many of the rods we use for trout fishing started out as salt water rods, the scott s3 then s4 for example, non corrosive reel seat is about it.
