I had a play with one yesterday in Norris's, the 8ft#3 and the 8.6ft #4 I think, superb rods, not stiff, nice feel in them, and cork was top notch, seriously thinking about one TBH.
A nice reel for that would be the Vision GT#4/5 or a Hardy Marksman #4.

I am totally into Rio lines myself the selective trout11, the new LT is not as nice IMO, it's replacement.
A decent line for the money is the Greys platinum heron gray.
It must have been the 8.6ft #5 I looked at as they don't do a #4 in that length.

This one is confusing me - what River in Florida requires such a setup ?

Is this some kind of bump ?

And I reckon the best shop in the whole of Florida is Johnny Morris's place in Fort Lauderdale or the outrider down at Islamorada ! Good places to spend an entire day annoying the staff ! and the Food's good too !

Best wishes

Steve P

Agree with previous post. Surely a 3wt is far to light, you will bring them in dead on a 3wt, there are some big fish that will take a fly in all the rivers there.

Last time I fished there I used a 5 and this was just OK. If you are near the estuaries you will need a 7 or>.
