Default "genuine" silver tinsel??

Hello,

I know vintage tinsel used to be actually plated with genuine silver, and thus was varnished to prevent tarnishing. Does anyone happen to know if "real" silver plated tinsel is still availavble anymore? I know most modern flash materiels are mylar based, which vaccuum deposited aluminum. Some tinsels are sold as "genuine French" tinsel, but that doesn't mean much to me..

Thank You,

Craig

I still have a small amount from my youth and it does tarnish quite a bit. You can shine it up again if you have patience. It's pretty tough stuff but will cut your thread unless wound in with care.

i'allways add a good bit of wax when tying down "proper tinsel" helps reduce breaks

Also spin you thread to close it as flattened thread cuts more easily
