Default Wading boots.

Which boots should I avoid & do I need studs with felt soles?

Also I've got a pair of Snowbee's that have split after only two outings, brand new from Ebay but a private seller who doesn't have the original receipt, without the receipt Snowbee won't accept them back! the sole on both boots has come away at the arch, can I use stormsure to repair or am I urintaing into a gale?

Thanks in advance.

Sainty

Korkers Guide boots - can't fault them, still going strong after 2 1/2 seasons (I used to get through a pair per season) and with the interchangable soles they are the best out there IMHO.

Korkers Guide Wading Boots - Sportfish

(No connection with Sportfish - just used their link, I got mine from fishtec via ebay)

Stormshore will work for a temp' fix, but I'm affraid it's time for new boots.

I think that stinks Sainty TBH, if new and worn twice, Snowbee should be more concerned in making sure you are satisfied with their products, rather than fobbing you off over a bit of paper.
They are not fit for purpose, and I wouldn't leave it at that I'm afraid.
I bought the Scierra Dynatracks, rubber soles, the first pair started to come apart after 4 HOURS use, in fairness they did admit a problem with a batch which had bad glue, and replaced them.
The second pair have been much better, but already on one boot the rubber is starting to peel away at the edges.
Wading boots are overpriced badly built junk, and like mugs we pay these silly prices because they are for game fishing.
The Korkers mentioned above have a proper welded sole, and look a far more rugged design, but at £175 it's rediculous, the same type of welded sole on a pair of trainers can be purchased for £25, I have some, 6 years old and had very hard work use, and still as good as the day I bought them.
Total rip off, and yes you can buy Simms which will probably last longer than others, but at what cost, Jeez my first house was only £400.

I have been wearing a pair of Hardy EWS with rubber and studs sole . They are in their third season now and look a bit tatty but they are still in one piece , The ground around here can be a bit rough at times to, They arent cheap but they seem to be well made...

Do as MrTrout advises and complain a bit more Simon, surely they must replace them.
I've had a pair of these felt soled boots for the last 3 years and still going strong Greys GRX Wading boots - Swillington Shooting Supplies (Didn't buy mine from here though)

I forgot to add that I mostly fish rivers with lots of slippy & algae coated rocks, don't know if this will have a bearing on felt/rubber/studded soles.

Cheers.

Hi Falsecast, I already enquired about those & they only have them left in size 6 otherwise I would've had a pair, thanks all the same

Get the Korkers and you can have any type of sole you like. Expensive but worth every penny. The Kling-0n soles with studs are excellent.

I have a pair of Orvis branded rubber soled wading boots with studs and have found them to be excellent boots on slippy algae covered rocks where i feel that felt soled equivalents would be like walking on ice.
As another poster has suggested there is a growing trend towards rubber sole boots nowadays as the felt soled boots are not good when it comes to bio security, with many invasives posing a threat these days.

Default Alternative Wading boots.

Arrived at my local water last night, and shock horror, left my wading boots at home.
Options,
persevere from the bank ?….limited access, nah
go back home and get them?............3/4 hour lost, nah
phone the wife and ask her to bring them up?....mibee not.

Bottom line, my old hiking boots were lying in the corner of the car boot, removed the insole for some more room, left off a pair of socks, and I tell you what they were a damn site more comfortable than the real thing. I recon if you needed to add some screw in studs for grip, some cheap hiking boots are worth a look.
