Default Devon Rivers V Devon Res

I am pretty new to this been about 7 times on small stillwaters

To enhance my enjoyment I booked a day with a coach on the river Tamar, but theres little water in it so I am going to have a bash on one of the Devon Resevoirs most probably Kennick

Any advise or suggestions bearing in mind the weather is going to be hot and sunny

Hi Aldo,
I was up at Kennick today teaching a guy.
Loads of hawthorn about and the fish were rising to them, so grease up a bibio and wait for the action!
I was on the Cherry Brook on Dartmoor yesterday and very little activity with hatching insects, water levels low.
I am on Teign tomorrow, even though its also low the fish have been showing well to the dry, lots of tree cover from the sun.
Best of luck
Cheers
Richard

The rivers are really low as Richard says. With the water so low the fish will look at a dry and in the slower stretches fish are taking really slowly. We watched a good fish come and look at the dry and take just like one from a chalkstream...great fun!

I was down on one of the Cornish rivers last week and it fished really well and I was really pleasantly surprised how good the flow was.

It depends where you are based but if you are down the Tamar way and there are Hawthorn Colliford can be really, really good fun if you are thinking about stillwaters.

Hello if you live in beautifull devon you have so much fishing to choose from lovely rivers and lakes. the weather brings its problems with rivers as we know just need wait for some rain then will be in fine form, south wests lakes are great to fish, if you can in this weather early morning till midday then late afternoon till dusk. wonderfull happy fishing

I fished Kennick yesterday, managed to get 5 and lost a couple. Having said that it was a long day had 2 on a damsel 1 on a buzzer under an indicator, 1 on a daiwl bach and 1 on an orange fritz booby.

Whilst I did OK there seemed to be a lot of unrest amongst the regulars, it seemed there was the odd pocket of fish (I was lucky) most had 1 or blanked and the catch reports completed on 27th 90% said nil return.

Many season ticket holders stating worst start to a season ever and they were not renewing next year.

Lots being blamed on low stocking levels!!!!!!!!

Get yourself up to Colliford.
Beautiful place to fish and if you keep moving you will catch fish.
On the North Devon rivers there are plenty of fly life at the moment with small Olives coming off in the morning and the odd Mayfly coming of as well.
Rivers very low and clear but the fish are there to be caught.
