Default Wye camping/boozing/fishing

Hi, I am heading up to the Wye for a few days and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction for a good campsite? I intend to try and stay around Hay-on-Wye and have a days fishing somwhere. Just me and the misus so not looing for anything 18-30

Be good if it was walking or pushbiking distance from a town or good pub.

Nevere been before, really looking forward to it.

Any advice would be much appriciated

Thanks.

You might like to try The Griffin at Llyswen. Not that far from Hay and on the better side of the border too!

The Griffin Inn, Llyswen, Brecon - friendly service and homely hospitality

Avoid Builth. The people there still point at helicopters.

The black sheep of my grandfather's family ran away from home and settled in Builth. Now why did he choose to go there, I wonder?

Actually, I love the place and often wonder whether I should follow his example.

For the uninitiated I would heartily recommend visiting the area during the first half of the third week in June.
