Default Throat Pumps

I have a couple of questions regarding throat pumps. You catch a fish with whatever pattern and then you proceed to stick this mini turkey baster down the fish's throat to see what it's currently feeding on. Why? You already know what it wants to eat! It's the thing on the end of your tippet that got you the fish in the first place. No? So why do it?

Is it just trout that normally have this done to them? Is there any other species of fish that the pump is also used on?

Should only be done on dead fish.NEVER live fish.

Ditto that!

As for the purpose, general 'search' patterns are usually not as effective as exactly matching the hatch.

Unlike "erection" pumps that should only be used on dead dicks

May I say before you condem anyone in your Kangaroo court, you might want to read the operating instructions before use of these items (FLY-RITEŽ STOMACH PUMP), water is injected into the trouts mouth releasing the food items and only the same amount of water along with food items is sucked out, causing very little discomfort to the trout.

I can catagorically tell you if anyone in my company used this on a live fish.they would never ever be in my company again, along with some very choice words. No matter what''(FLY-RITEŽ STOMACH PUMP), choose to tell you.

I do have one of these, It is only supposed to pickup items in the trouts mouth, not stomach. I.E, water is first picked up in the pump, then gently squeeze the pump, on release the water is then picked back up into the pump with any insects. It is not forced into the trouts stomache.
I only use mine for picking up any insects that I see floating in the water, easier than tryng to get them on your finger tip.
