Default River wear today......

Went to the wear at croxdale today.Got there about 4pm and fished until 7pm.I managed 3 fish the biggest about 6 inch.2 on klink`s and 1 on partridge and orange.I missed about another 7 on the klink`s but these were very small fish, like the other 2 I caught, about 3-4 inch. These small fish were going mad for Grannom, there was a massive hatch on,they were actually jumping out of the water and taking them!.I have never seen a hatch the size of this one, there was literally thousand`s of them. The only thing was that their wasn`t any decent fish taking them they were all very small fish.Does anyone know is this the norm?
Cheer`s

Hi John,

The decent fish are all in hiding (low water/bright conditions). Normally a grannom hatch is great to fish, provided the other conditions are right.

When the water warms up a bit (May onwards) you can catch decent trout early morning and late evening even when the water is low, but it's a little early for that at the moment.

Ive been down there a few times in the last couple of weeks and the grannon were hatching off like mad also. The fish were very small too. hopefully the bigger fish might shown soon.

Andy

P.S in the River Update section i have started a River Wear thread for people to add their reports
