Unhappy Gailey Trout Fishery

Hi all,

Whilst at my local fishery today someone told me that Gailey had been taken over by the Prince Albert Club and turned into a Coarse Fishery. Can anyone confirm this? If it is true, yest another demise of a Game Fishery to this outfit.
Pete.

Just been on their website to see if there was any info on there. The latest report is from June 2009 so that was a waste of time!

This is the Prince Albert website which seems to be updated regularly enough. Their news section is here, may be worth keeping an eye on
Prince Albert Angling Society

Yes,...It is gone,...it is an ex-Game fishery,....unless you work for Trout Fisherman, in which case it is a thriving Mecca of the fishing of the fly.

My understanding is that British Waterways put the lease out to tender. Prince Albert have provided the most suitable offer, so 'this outfit' has done nothing wrong. If you feel so upset, direct your disappointment at British Waterways rather than a fishing club.

Going on the way PAAS currently looks after its waters, to fish there in the future you will need to wear deep pink camo, to merge in with the Himalayan Balsam. PAAS ought to have the Himalayan Balsam as its Club Badge!

A wealthy club that neglects its waters. Not one full-time, qualified, professional keeper to the club's name and yet it has revenues circa £800,000 p.a. What a disgrace!

It was on t'internet a while ago, or maybe BWB website, a few google attempt should bring it up. To be honest Gailey never quite made it as a trout fishery IMHO so no great loss. Got the impression there were more pike anglers than fly at the end!
