I fish wansford and it was in good shape 2 weeks ago. Lots of good looking fish. Search the reports pages and you'll see my wansford updates over the past 6-9 months. Nice water to me. It is a smaller fishery (~60' across most places, down to about 10' deep, 250-300m long) in the shape of an elongated U. There is a flow to is from the inlet taken from the stream/canal. The fish are healthy right now and the weeds have not grown in yet. Lots of good fish in the 15-24" bracket that have thick shoulders and lots of girth. Couple really big fish in the double digits. Good for a half day out or more.
Starr Carr is between Withernsea and Wansford. It is a much bigger pond, about 200m wide and 500m long. I understand it goes down to 50' deep or so. I visited, but didn't fish. One bank is no tfishable because of steep and brush. The dam is the road in and there are some pegs. The other long bank (lake is a triangle) has access, but you'll not cast to the middle without a carp rod. They rent boats if you want.
Both have websites. Personally, I like wansford because of the flow and the intimicy. Starr Carr is just a big lake while Wansford is a small paradise (lots of wildlife around too).
Thanks
