Default Angling Mecca.

On Top Gear they claim that you cant be a true petrolhead unless you have owned an Alfa.
For a bit of fun lets see if we can find the waters you must have fished to call yourself an angler.
I will get the ball rolling with a few from my own home waters.

Salmon
For sheer size, history and the chance of a 40lber, it has to be the Tay.
For autumnal beauty, and increasing numbers, the Tweed.
For outstanding surrounding and a river made for fishing, the Spey.

River trout
With no equal, the Don.
Toping the list of all the rest, the Clyde.

Loch trout
Loch Leven
On a personal pilgrimage, I will fish before I die, the hill lochs of Fionn and Sionascaig

Grayling
For a monster it has to be either the Tummel or the Annan

Rainbows
I give you the Lake of Menteith.

Come on then guys and gals give me your best for your country.

Although i haven't fished it YET, i'd say Corrib has to be up on that list.

Perhaps the Test for river trout?

And for rainbows, some of the big midland reservoirs are deserving of a mention

Ok my list... such as it is, is limited by lack of joy with catching a salmon thus far.

Brown Trout.
Has to be the Monnow system of course - specifically Lower Henllan on The Honddu

Grayling.
Tough one, but probably the river Dove.

Rainbow Trout.
I don't do stockies so it has to be the Derbyshire Wye - up at Chedale.

Sewin.
River Towy, Golden Grove - Dragons Head pool.

Salmon.
Anywhere with a half decent shout. Upper Tweed in Autumn

No mention of the southern chalkstreams, or even the stalkers paradises of Avington or Dever?
