Default Would you like to flyfish for England?

The Angling Trust ( North East ) are holding a get together for promising young flyfishers at Witton Castle Lakes on the evening of Wednesday 22nd June 2011.

The aim is to identify and then coach young anglers who will hopefully progress and go on to represent the North East in future angling events against other regions in England and ultimately to go on and fish for the England Youth Team in Home Internationals and World Youth Championships
Full details and application form can be found on
Angling Trust Organisation for Anglers
section=705§ionTitle=Game+North+East

So, do any of you know of any youngster who would be interested? spread the word and reserve a place for the 22nd June, hurry though places are limited to 45.
Contact info is on the Angling Trust Website above.

Would love to! Shame I'm not skilled enough or from the north east.
Just out of interest how young do you have to be to fall into junior category?

you have to be between the age of 12-17 for lochstyle and 12-19 for the world championships. if you can get involved with the england youth its a great experience and i would reccomend it to anyone.

Thumbs down Ffs

When Imago started the thread on competition fishing in rivers, I thought "whatever, not for me but each to his own etc" but I was thinking of adults.

12 year olds in competition fishing?

FFS

What next?

Scouts checking venues for the next "promising fisherman" to sign up to an academy?

Managers slipping bungs to parents to make sure the kid signs up?

Parents racing along dam walls screaming "Brick the Ref!" (or whoever moderates these things)

Under 12 pond dipping internationals to "give them a taste of competition at the highest level" ?

Rejects can always represent their country at Birdwatching or Rambling.

Give them a break. There's enough cr@ppy competition ahead of them in life.

If you're going to spend money on young anglers, how about spending it on the "not so promising" and the disadvantaged ones.?

Bill

Yes,
EYF are part of the Angling Trust and as such have been consulted with regard to this Talent Initiative.

Typical response from someone with no respect for anyone's opinion other than their own. Are you just a wind-up merchant or a complete ar**ho*e?
We are actually giving young anglers the opportunity to be coached by some top English International Flyfishers and ATqualified coaches.
Is that right or wrong?
Why not go along to the North West Region Equivalent of this one being run in the North East. You might just learn something yourself.
