Default Knots for copolymer

I had my first outing fishing for carp on the fly this weekend. I was fishing a deer hair dog biscuit fly on an 8lb copolymer leader. I used the same knot as I use to attach my fluorocarbon leaders to the fly line, a uni knot. This never fails when using fluoro. However with copoly I lost the leader twice. Both times on the strike. I dont know if the knot was snapping or slipping as tehre was nothing left to inspect.

After that I switched to 8lb fluoro, same knot, and landed 3 carp to 10lb no problems. They go like stink on a 6wt

Where did I go wrong with the copoly?

Cheers
Mot

I am no expert so take what I say with a pinch of salt. I started using Co Polymer 4lb for dry fly fishing and noticed that with a blood knot, the knot seems to slip through at times. I tried a tucked blood but it was no better. I am now using an Orvis knot and provided you bed it down fully that seems a lot more secure.

Yes, i lost lots of fish using the tucked half blood when i switched to copolymer, fish that really shouldn't have broken me. Since using the Orvis knot it just doesn't happen!
Lately i have been using the Davy knot for small flies, and its neater and hasn't let me down.

The four turn water knot, lubricated with spit before pulling it tight in four directions, makes a very tidy and strong knot. Usually on a break it is the co-polymer that gives way, not the four turn water knot.
