Broke me up, that. It must be tough for you aenoon, with no fishing closer than 10 (?),mins drive and probably free to boot. .

Bill

Lovely fish, D J.

Interesting what the big fellows are feeding on, this fish was 2 1/2lb I had another at 3lb both were stuffed with sticklebacks. Both came to a size 10 silver invicta, one on a floating line the other an intermediate sinktip.
I had dozens of takes on a size 12 dark olive bumble tied on a heavy grub hook but didn't boat any. The two other fish I kept were just shy of 1 1/2lb each, both came to a size 12 black zulu, neither had anything but tiny black flies in there stomachs. I wonder if the bigger fish feed all year round on sticklebacks ?

Very nice fish, lucky man.

Out of interest, how many did you catch on the day?

The Pirate.

I'd lie to endorse those sentiments.

Six boated. Many more lost and jabbed. These were the smaller 1lbers that were taking the size 12 grub hooks. I had the same problem last year with these flies. Whilst spitting fire over loosing my umteenth fish a 2lb+ fish leapt 3 foot in the air near the middle of the loch. So I set a drift up down the middle. I got the 3lb fish first near were I saw the fish jump then 10mins later the 2lb. The 2 1/2lb fish came on my second drift through the same area by which time I'd changed to a floater from a sinktip. These fish were feeding on sticklebacks in deeper water, what's surprising to me is that the sticklebacks were 80 yards from the edge in deeper colder water. The waters still very cold and the wind was vicious.
