Default Tippet ring knot

Following on from a thread in which I received excellent advice, ...
Which knot should I use to attach a tippet ring to the end of a tapered leader?

My preference is the grinner/uni knot. I also use this knot to attach flies to the tippet and a double grinner is also useful for joining two pieces of leader material, the tag end can be used as a dropper.

Agree with ruby and generally use a grinner/uni, and I use exclusively when on the water. However, if I have more time (like setting up before going to the river) then I like to experiment, my current experiments include the davy's knot and thefisherman's knot (aka reverse clinch or san diego jam), both seem very good.

I just use the good old half blood knot - never had any problems with that, regardless of line line size or type.

No worries Chris, don't forget as you progress with your casting you can add a longer tippet to the ring say 5ft and as well as adding a dropper to the ring
