Default new pastures

50 years course looking to add new string to my bow by adding fly,just purchased greys xd 9-9weight, with a view to ,salt,carp,and pike. advice needed on size and make of reel and line to match rod. budget of 200 pounds to include spare spool. thanks in advance.

Welcome to the dark side... to be honest with you that is plenty of money... if salt is a consideration then i would suggest you take a look at the okuma airframe ... carbon composite construction, strong, light decent drag, cheap as chips to buy new spools and most importantly it will not corrode in saltwater... salt isn't kind to alloy...

the cassette version of this reel can be picked up from glasgow angling centre for 40 quid including 3 spools...

Just make sure that you wash whatever tackle you buy after using it in the salt. The salt will make light work of your tackle if it is not washed down after each trip.
