Default Powder Mills

Blanked there today. Nothing I did seemed right. Fished buzzers when they took subsurface, fished goldheads, bloodworms and lures when they went deep. Maybe I should have tried PTNs and Diawl Bachs. Annoying.

Hi Alex just seen your thread - I was there last weekend and also blanked - beautiful day though! I tried a pheasant tail, GRHE and a couple of other small nymphs nothing doing. So wanting to catch something I changed to a gold head cats whisker quick retreaves. I did get some interest then but didnt manage to get any solid takes.

I think the fish were down deep and sleepy due to the hot weather. But if you go there again under similar conditions try a cats whisker or a large black lure with a quick retrieve.

hope that helps

Is this the lake thats part of the Albury Estate fishery? Probably going to be giving the stream a try next weekend so may well drop on to the lake in the evening, hopefully will pick up now the unseasonally warm weather has left.

Default thanks hrr

Does anyone else find that if you blank at a fishery it makes you want to go back there just to catch something, rather than go back to somewhere you've caught before? Thanks for the tip hrr. If I go back and its similar I might try letting the lure just sit at the bottom and occasionly twitch it. Friend was saying I should have tried a gold head daddy or a diawl bach. Oddly enough am fishing the Powder Mill fishery in Sussex next week so we'll see how that goes. Fishing from a boat this time which I've only done twice before. Any tips greatly appreciated
Alex

It depends. If I blank because the stocking policy is dodgy then I wouldn't return. In fact, if the stocking policy is dodgy and I do catch then I still might not return!

I would only return somewhere that has a water that is well looked after (for stocked lakes) and in nice surroundings.
