Default Any recent Bloke Rod buyers comments

Have just bought a 10' 5wt XL50 and tried it out with a 5,6, and 7 line and it doesn't seem to load, probably my casting. Not used to 10' rod either, anyone else tried this rod and comments.

I've used the 10ft, 5wt XL50 for some time and will admit that when I first used it I found it a touch 'pokey' (technical casting term ). It will hold up a lot of line, will easily cope with a 6wt line, never tried a 7 on it but my impression would be that it would be a line too far.

I have the same rod, as well as the 9', and have used it with 5 Wt WF Carron line and PP 5 Wt DT, and have no problems with it.
Good Luck

Default Like I said

Its probably me, thats why I asked the question.

Do you have to double haul it to load it, and also it seems tough on the wrist, this must be a function of 10' over 9'.

In fairness to Mick I did ask for a distance rod with action at the tip after buying a Centennial Shakespeare that is soft right through. Also yesterday the wind was behind me so that didn't help.

I have a Loop 4wt that casts so effortlessly and have been trying to find a slightly heavier rod with the same properties. Its almost like I have the one rod that loves my casting style and no other does

Are Bloke rods built on Harrison or Norwich blanks?

I have a 10 foot #7 and i love it so much i hardly use it!! - it's a fairly forgiving tip action with some serious poke. i would guess that you're used to mid or through action rods that bend all the way down. the bloke is far more tippy and as such needs greater care with the timing. get it right though and you can lassoo the moon with it.
