Default Reservoir Gear

Hi all, i'm looking at getting a forty plus line for fishing off the bank at the midland reservoirs, I know that distance isn't everything but there is a 'you've got to be in it to win it' aspect to fishing off a bank at Pitsford when the guys either side of you are casting shooting heads into the distance thus pushing the fish out.

Would you use a shooting head or a Forty plus and with what weight rod/line etc.

Was toying with the idea of a 10' #8 rod with #8 forty plus WF line.

Thanks in advance.

Chris.

A forty plus is a shooting head, just ready made.

They are very good - see the review I did in the tackle reviews section. From the bank it will give you some extra distance but I would probably not use a 40+ for floating line work, maybe the slow inter or fast inter for lures.

I like the 40+ expert better as the loop seems more stable when casting into the wind.Had a 40+ floater once but gave it away-landed horribly on the water and coiled badly.I prefer the snowbee xs ed for floater work.Airflo have brought out a new floater similar to the snowbee but ive yet to see an objective and independant review of this line-anyone?

all the best Nick
