May be worth giving them a call to check they haven't forgotten they are supposed to be open and to book in. Their website hasn't changed and confirmed the date.

A lot will depend on what they have done over the last month, especially with regards the weed?

It's a lovely fishery, and I'll be paying a visit soon!

I'm presuming it is open again?? I dont like fishing it just after its been stocked, too many lure bashers trying to get the big numbers so was going to leave it a couple of weeks.

Hi Jags,

Nice to see you back from your travels - but in a 4 x 4

Spoke with Gordon on sunday morning and he said they were stocking it yesterday.

Was out on the Welsh Dee today and had some nice grayling and a couple of plump brownies, but also fancey a trip to Mere Beck.

Just a thought, but shouldn't we run this thread under stillwaters?

Perhaps it should move sections.

I noticed that stocking was yesterday, thought it would hve been done last week ready for the weekend opening. I was thinking of going this saturday but no doubt it will be packed.

Hi Koi,

Apologies, I got my day mixed up and thought yesterday was Wednesday

With regards it being packed, do they still restrict the number of anglers on the fishery?

.

Wish yesterday was wednesday, 1 more day till fishing time!

I suppose they would restrict the numbers but I feel there's a limited number of decent areas and to get the full benefit you need to wander and work as much of the water as poss. Also, being totally unsociable I hate having to sit on someones knee due to a lack of room! I've found in the past that going just after a stocking is a bad idea as its full (by that I mean low teens) so I tend to avoid it unless I can get there later on in the day.

I might still chance it first thing saturday, really struggling to decide where to go!

Hi again Koi,

You lurking on line also

I'm like yourself, I like a little space to move around.

If you are wondering where else to go, we fished Barnsfold about 2 weeks ago, and that's a nice fishery, albeit very windy at times, but with plenty of space to move around. Just one tip, don't park under the pine trees!

I've also heard good reports on Bigland Trout Fishery in the lower lake district, and plan to pay a visit at some point.

There's always Stocks?

Mere Beck is handy for me, and ideal for an afternoon and evening session without to much driving, etc.

Ah yes, lunchtime in the office sadly!

I went past barnsfold the other day and did put it on my list. I know bigland as a customer of mine recently purchased Bigland Hall so i do go alot but only in work hours and Im not sure that even I could swing that one!

Never fished Stocks but again, on my list. Mere Beck is pretty close for me too, though Curleys is literally a 10 min drive, if that. There always Twin Lakes of course
