Default replacing rings on a flyrod

Hi,i would be grateful if any one could give me any info on replacing 2 snake guides on the top section of a rod.some one suggested, squeezing the guide with pliers to get it out and doing the same to fit the new ones, and adding a drop of supper glue.
any advice would be great, many thanks Duncan

That someone should be shot!

If the rod is in any way valuable get it done properly by 'someone' who knows what they're doing, ie by removing the old whippings and snakes, re whipping new ones and applying a new epoxy coating.

If the rod's not valuable or has no sentimental value then maybe consider buying a new one.

Hi Sage 5

If its a Reddington rod and the snakes have worn then you might be able to get a replacement rod under the Reddington Guarantee. I say this from experience, I had a Wayfarer and the tip ring became grooved, I asked Reddington if they could replace the tip ring, they said send the rod back to them and they replaced the whole rod with th latest, new model! Amazing service could not be happier. Could have been a manufacteuring fault with the ring, as I have not had this problem before with other rods.

Agree with lighthouse. The person who gave you the 1st advice is a moron.are you sure they are a friend
If you don't think you can manage it yourself(not a hard job) get it done by someone who can do it properly.
